Up for auction are Both the Regular Issue and Invasion Extra Issue of the Rock Island Argus Newspaper on D-Day!This is both the standard issue and the "Invasion Extra Issue" of the Rock Island Argus newspaper for D-Day, June 6, 1944. The headlines include: "Allies Gain 16-Mile-Wide Foothold;" "Cherbourg First Goal, Foe Says;" "Nazis Claim Early Success and Look for New Landings;" "Bridges Captured Before Defenders Can Destroy Them;" "Allies Crack Coastwall - Ferried by 4,000 Vessels;" "Churchill Reveals 11,000 Airplanes Sustain Offensive;" "Deep Penetrations Made by Parachute and Glider Troops."
