    Description

They called her "Librarian Extraordinaire" (Emma Toedteberg) for her tenure at LIHS and Brooklyn (NY)
Historical Society. Emma's Ex Libris is by
    "EDF"
    - you can see his initials in our
    last picture.
    Edwin Davis French had
    died in 1906 (1851-1906). The b/p shows
'MDCCC CXIV' - 1914. What!? But, there's an answer for that. Bookplate literature will reveal the name of 'A. J. Brown' who, as an engraver is credited with finishing plates that French worked on. U New Hampshire collection is one place to find mention of Brown.
Read about Emma - Google, of course. There's a lot to like, she was more than just
    a librarian.
