  • Condition: For auction is an antique possibly late18th early19th century portrait painting of a gentleman. Item from an estate in New Jersey. Work of art has been relined and framed back in the 1940's according to the family. Frame measures 23" x 27" with image size approx. 18" x 21". Wood stretcher is stamped in red "18 & 22 Anco Inc. Glendale L.I.". Viewing photos 5 & 6 please notice the top portion of the art work above the subjects head where original canvas is missing. You can see the backing. There is craquelure present due to its extreme age. I could not find a signature. The subject matter is lifelike in detail. I took various photos with natural sunlight and normal light and you can see the detail very well. There are a couple of areas notably above the hairline where a paint chip is visible. Fine quality antique work of art. I have been selling art for over 40 years and this one could be late 18th early 19th century. Painting looks fine just the way it is, ready for display.
