Description

Up for sale is a group of 4 “Jiffy Stitchery”, 1 Caron and 1 Coats & Clark instruction and pattern sheets for crewel embroidery projects. Most are from kits that were sold in the 1970s I believe. A “crafty lady” found a way to reuse the pattern portion of the kit to decorate dish towels and made a tablecloth so I'm offering these in case someone would like to do similar.
Most do not have any of the original packaging but usually I believe original kits would have come with fabric, yarn, a color print of the finished product, a cardboard mounting board and the instruction/pattern sheet. These DO NOT HAVE fabric, yarn, or the mounting board. The ONLY thing included is the instruction/pattern sheet. Two of them (Tea & Pansies) have the colored print of the finished product. The 3 herbs have small color pics attached that MAY have come from the original packaging. One side of the instruction sheet has a drawing of the item to be stitched, a listing of the various colors of 3 ply yarn along with a number code that coordinates with the labelled drawing. The other side of the instruction sheet has instructions how to do each of the embroidery stitches required to complete the project.
The 'crafty lady' managed to copy, trace, hand draw or somehow transfer the image in the instructions to a fabric square (I believe the image in the instructions is the same size as the one that was stamped on the original fabric). She used her own yarn to embroider it (in some cases opting to vary the color choices from the instructions). She then sewed the various embroidered squares to other plain or print fabric squares and created a beautiful tablecloth. I'm sure that other 'crafty' people could find other projects to use these beautiful patterns for as well. The original projects were designed to fit into a 5" x 7" frame.
The name of the prints included in this sale are:
1. Nutmeg
2. Caraway
3. Cloves
4. Carrots Three
5. Tea
6. Pansies
7. Mushroom - this has 2 sheets originally identical sheets, one is intact the 2nd has been cut. The bottom of the instruction page has iron-on transfers of mushrooms.
