Description

What a wonderfully different engagement or right hand ring! Look closely-- that center diamond is a cushion cut set at a 45 degree angle. The other two are hand cut old mines, one of which is rounder and one of which is also sort of a cushion cut. If you want a diamond ring that has its own unique fingerprint, this is the one for you!
The setting on this piece is palladium, which was first used in jewelry in the late 1930s. Its a metal that was popular in the WW2 years when gold was needed for the war effort but is very desirable today. Strong and expensive, its related to platinum and is often more expensive per ounce. The center diamond measures about 4.9x5.3mm and is estimated to weigh about half a carat. The side stones are 3.9x4mm and 4.2x3.5mm respectively. Total gem weight is estimated at a bit under a carat for the 3 stones. The color of the center is N-- you can see in a few of the pics that it does show up as slight yellow. The side stones are in the I-J range. They are VS2 to SI1 in clarity. The diamonds are very chunky hand cuts with small tables and open culets. These are unique antique stones!
The face of the ring measures 13.7mm east to west. The undermount is a simple open prong style, and the band measures 2mm at the shoulders to 1.3mm at the back of the band. This would be an easy ring to stack with others.
Condition is great. The stones have only the most minor wear under magnification, mostly to the girdle edges. Currently a 10, this ring can be sized by your jeweler. Marked and tested for palladium this beauty weighs 3.7 grams.
